Location: Baker County, FL
Deployment: 5 weeks on/ 1 week off | 12-hour shifts
Pay: $2650-$3180/wk DOE

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated non-denominational Assistant Chaplin to provide spiritual care and support to individuals housed in an immigrant detention center. This role will focus on delivering inclusive, non-denominational pastoral care that respects the diverse faith backgrounds of detainees. The Assistant Chaplin will offer counseling, conduct non-denominational services, provide crisis support, and coordinate with community faith organizations to ensure detainees have access to appropriate religious resources.
The ideal candidate will be empathetic, culturally sensitive, and experienced in providing spiritual guidance in challenging, multicultural, and high-security environments.
Your Mission
Spiritual Care & Counseling
- Provide individual and group pastoral counseling to detainees.
- Support detainees experiencing grief, trauma, or crisis situations with sensitivity and care.
- Maintain strict confidentiality while adhering to facility rules and regulations.
Worship & Services
- Ensure services and activities are inclusive and respectful of diverse religious beliefs.
- Facilitate access to approved religious materials and resources.
Coordination & Community Engagement
- Partner with outside clergy, chaplaincy organizations, and approved volunteers to meet detainees’ spiritual needs.
- Coordinate with detention center leadership to ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility policies related to religious accommodations.
- Serve as a bridge between detainees, staff, and community faith partners.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of services, visits, and pastoral care provided.
- Follow all security protocols and compliance guidelines of the detention center.
- Report and address pastoral care issues in alignment with facility policies.
Requirements
- At least 3–5 years of experience in pastoral ministry, chaplaincy, or counseling
- Ordination or credentialing in a recognized non-denominational faith community.
- Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
- Previous experience working in correctional, detention, or high-security environments preferred.
- Must successfully pass a background check, drug screening, and security clearance process.
- Willingness to work within the structure and guidelines of a secure facility.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
