Program Coordinator, Buncombe County
Job Description
Description: Full time, 32 hours per week. Must live in the local area and be able to support the program in Buncombe County with additional travel required at times. Under the supervision of the CEO and the Chief Program Officer, and in conjunction with other staff, the Program Coordinator proactively performs the leadership role in the program team approach in the areas of enrollment, matching, and match support. Travel and work in the local area is required. Proficiency in Google Suite required; a plus if experience with database data entry, interviewing skills, and writing assessments.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in social work or related human services field. Experience in related field is desired, but not required. Ability to travel within service area and to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, is required.

Responsibilities:
Community Engagement & Advocacy
- Recruit volunteers and youth through outreach, presentations, and events
- Represent the agency locally and build strong community relationships
- Collaborate with the Advisory Council to plan and execute local fundraising events
Enrollment & Matchmaking
- Conduct interviews, orientations, and assessments for volunteers and youth
- Identify youth development needs and create personalized Youth Outcome Development Plans (YODPs)
- Complete Child/Youth Outcome Surveys
- Thoughtfully match youth with mentors and facilitate match agreements
Match Support
- Manage a caseload of 35–45 active matches
- Provide ongoing support, coaching, and guidance for mentors, youth, and families
- Monitor match success with regular contact and detailed documentation
- Lead enrichment activities and match events to foster strong relationships
Program Development
- Serve as a liaison between BBBS and other community organizations
- Maintain strong knowledge of youth development best practices
- Plan match enrichment activities, stewardship and service project opportunities for Bigs and Littles using local grant funds
Group Mentoring
- Coordinate and support Group Mentors
- Utilize provided Regional curriculum
- Act as substitute group facilitator when needed
- Serve as liaison between BBBSWNC and school personnel
- Complete match support documentation and surveys
