Overview
The Education & Outreach Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the Children’s Museum of Findlay's mission by creating engaging, play-based learning experiences both inside the museum and throughout the community. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic leader, organized event coordinator, and community advocate passionate about hands-on learning, child development, and family engagement.
Responsibilities
On-Site Educational Activities
- Design, implement, and prepare weekly educational activities for museum visitors.
- Develop monthly activity calendars around given parameters
Community Outreach & Off-Site Programming
- Plan, organize, and execute all community outreach activities, representing the museum at local schools, libraries, fairs, festivals, and civic events.
- Build and nurture relationships with local community organizations, school districts, non-profits, and youth groups to expand the museum's reach.
- Transport, set up, and tear down outreach and promotional materials at off-site locations.
Third-Party & Guest Program Scheduling
- Schedule third-party educators, performers, specialists, and community partners to host workshops and programs within the museum.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of third-party programs and visitor satisfaction to inform future bookings.
Skills and Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Early/Elementary Childhood Education, Museum Studies, Recreation Management, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in educational program planning, classroom teaching, youth programming, or non-profit outreach.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal, public speaking, and written communication skills with the ability to engage both children and adults.
- Organization: Strong project management and scheduling skills with close attention to detail.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional evenings, weekends, and special events as required by the program schedule.
- Licensure: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for off-site outreach events.
Pay: From $18.00 per hour
