Direct Support Professional (DSP)

A Caring Heart is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This role centers on providing daily care, building life skills, and encouraging independence within a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
Weekends Required
About the Role
As a Direct Support Professional, you will assist individuals with daily living activities, personal care, and skill-building. Services are provided in the home, community, and day program settings. You will support growth in areas such as self-care, communication, social skills, household tasks, community inclusion, and self-regulation. Training is fully provided by A Caring Heart.
This specific position will take place in an all female group home setting.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking dependable, motivated individuals with a strong work ethic and a passion for helping others. Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, state-minimum auto insurance, and a safe driving record. All applicants must successfully pass background checks.
The ideal candidate is confident working with individuals who may display aggressive or escalated behaviors, demonstrates patience and self-control, and can effectively use de-escalation strategies. Willingness to support clients with physical activity and muscle-building exercises is essential. Previous experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities is a plus but not required.

Application Question(s):
- Are you able to physically push, pull, or lift 25 pounds, unassisted, on a regular basis and up to 100 pounds unassisted occasionally?
- Please describe your experience working with individuals that are in the IDD populations. Also describe your experience working in a residential setting. Please include organizations that you worked for, volunteered for, and/or personal experience that you have.
- To help ensure a faster hiring process, are you able to provide the following documentation if requested during the application process: a valid driver’s license, Social Security card, current vehicle registration, proof of automotive insurance, and records of your education (minimum high school diploma or equivalent)?
- Are you able to commit to the 3:00 p.m.–11:00 p.m. work schedule and every weekend?
Education:
- High school or equivalent (Required)
Experience:
- Unsupervised Driving: 3 years (Required)
- Working with people with developmental disabilities: 1 year (Preferred)
- Assisting with ADLs: 1 year (Preferred)
- working with behaviors: 1 year (Preferred)
