A school is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter and American Sign Language (ASL) Teacher to provide specialized support for a kindergarten student. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality American Sign Language interpretation during classroom activities
- Deliver direct ASL instruction tailored to the student’s needs and developmental level
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support the student’s communication goals
- Facilitate language access ensuring full participation in educational activities
- Monitor and report on student progress related to ASL skills and communication
- Adhere to confidentiality and school policies promoting an inclusive learning environment
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language with strong interpreting skills
- Experience teaching ASL or providing sign language support in educational settings
- Ability to work effectively with young children, particularly kindergarten-aged students
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with educators and families
- Understanding of educational practices and accommodations for students with hearing needs
