Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Paint Prepper to join our dynamic auto body repair team. In this vital role, you will prepare vehicles for painting by ensuring surfaces are properly cleaned, sanded, and primed to achieve flawless finishes. Duties
- Thoroughly clean and inspect vehicles to identify areas requiring preparation or repair
- Sand, grind, and smooth surfaces using hand tools and power tools to ensure optimal paint adhesion
- Mask off areas not to be painted using tape, paper, or plastic sheeting for precise results
- Mix and apply primers, fillers, and sealants to prepare surfaces for painting
- Operate airless paint sprayers and other equipment to apply primer and paint efficiently
- Perform minor auto body repairs such as filling dents or scratches before painting
- Assist with vehicle detailing, buffing, and auto glass installation as needed to support overall vehicle restoration
Requirements
- Previous dealership or auto body shop experience highly preferred
- Knowledge of welding, auto painting, auto restoration, and vehicle maintenance techniques
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and airless paint spraying equipment
- Ability to lift heavy parts and perform physical tasks safely and effectively
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Basic understanding of auto estimating processes is a plus
- Prior experience with detailing, buffing, auto glass work, or auto estimating is advantageous
