Safety Trainer. The trainer will be responsible for evaluating our needs and current practices and creating and delivering a training development plan complete with materials, tutorials, instructions, and learning resources such as online modules and guides. The ideal candidate will be a confident public speaker and a devoted educator who is up-to-date on the latest tools and resources needed to improve employee training and performance. The trainer will also be responsible for researching and selecting the best platform to deliver and utilize training materials.
The recruiter will be responsible to identify and recruit potential drivers and trainees to our company.
The Safety trainer will make sure the company maintains compliance with all Federal and State regulations required for a school bus operation. S/he will be responsible for the recordkeeping and maintaining required files for each driver and vehicle. The safety trainer will provide training, instruction and guidance in areas related to safety. The safety trainer will help oversee serious crash investigations and related record keeping.
Plan and oversee the work of employees ensure efficiency and compliance with organizational requirements and company procedures.
Conduct ongoing safety audits, meet with individual staff members, attend company safety meetings and participate or direct other work activities designed to promote work safety and encourage continuing education among staff members.
Implement changes to transportation services, policies or scheduling as needed.
Ensure staff members fully and consistently comply with safety rules, administrative procedures and policies, environmental policies, union contracts and government regulations.
Collaborate with staff members and fellow managers to create, modify and implement goals, procedures, policies and objectives when the opportunity presents itself.
Establish and conduct monthly, quarterly or annual employee training sessions on a variety of subjects, including quality improvement, safety, and employee orientation.
Work with safety trainer to make sure training goals are met and that trainees are progressing.
Create and implement uniform system to deal with work policy violations.
Ability to drive a school bus and other district vehicles safely and efficiently.
Develop a schedule to assess training needs.
Conduct employee surveys and interviews.
Communicate training needs and online resources.
Create training strategies, initiatives, and materials.
Contact and utilize outside vendors and resources for instructional technology.
Test and review created materials.
Maintain a database of all training materials.
Instruct employee training and onboarding.
Conduct training through new materials.
Review employee performance and learning.
Monitoring driver qualification files and the hiring and selection process.
Reviewing hours of service records for accuracy.
Assuring DOT drug / alcohol program is compliant with regulations.
Work with maintenance vendors to assure PM compliance and demand maintenance are compliant.
Review accident file contents for accuracy and documents needed.
Gatekeeper for accident preventable decisions.
Assure proper accountability is delivered for preventable accidents.
Actively recruit Company Driver and Owner Operators, through various advertisement mediums and lead generation.
Utilize all company resources to complete the Recruiting process (Phone, computer, Internet, etc.); Manages the necessary sourcing and advertising of openings.
Develop and maintain a database of driver, trainee candidates.
Develops and maintains a full understanding of the local driver labor market.
Help improve Independent Contractor and Company Driver Retention – promote a positive business environment and become a source of guidance for drivers.
Works with transportation management and facilities management to identify staffing needs and requirements. Must be able to track and report on all activities on a routine basis.
Develops networks with external sources to continually improve sourcing opportunities.
Develops and maintains relationships with drivers through a variety of sources, electronically and face to face locally.
Maintains and promotes DOT compliance during recruitment and hiring process;
Complete candidate files for review by the Safety Department for approval.
Ensures compliance with all federal/state laws and regulations; shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences in all phases of recruitment process.
