Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor direct support staff to ensure high-quality care and adherence to individualized plans.
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Implement behavior management strategies tailored to each person’s needs, utilizing techniques such as behavioral health interventions and positive reinforcement.
- Support individuals in community outings and home settings, ensuring safety while promoting independence and social engagement.
- Collect and document data related to progress, behavior patterns, medication administration, and other relevant metrics to inform care planning.
- Facilitate effective communication using skills such as American Sign Language or other methods suited to individual preferences.
- Drive agency vehicles responsibly for transportation needs, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Collaborate with families, social workers, educators, and healthcare providers to coordinate care plans and support services.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements related to medication administration, safety procedures, and documentation standards.
Experience
- Proven experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism in home or community care settings.
- Strong understanding of special education principles and behavioral health techniques.
- Demonstrated ability in behavior management strategies and supporting positive behavioral outcomes.
- Familiarity with assisting individuals with disabilities in daily routines and community integration activities.
- Excellent communication skills, including experience using American Sign Language or other alternative communication methods preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience driving agency vehicles is a plus.
