Summary:
A Clinical Specialist supports both front desk and technical operations in an optometry clinic, managing the appointment schedule, verifying insurance, collecting copays, and maintaining accurate patient demographics. They answer patient questions, guide the check‑in process, and perform all preliminary testing required by the doctor to ensure efficient patient flow and high‑quality care
Essential Responsibilities:
· Ensure proper patient flow
· Ensure appointments are scheduled according to scheduling guidelines
· Check patients in and out
· Maintain patient records
· Collect payments
· Maintain phone lines
· Answer patient questions and concerns
· Verify insurances 72 hours in advance
· Process all online contact lens vendor requests from fax and phone
· Confirm next day appointments
· Call all no-shows from same day
· Help to actively drive business results daily
· Scan charts daily. File and scan communication letters from Ophthalmologists, referral visits, and patient’s complete paper chart into the EHR
· Follow contact lens ordering and selling process
· Maintain contact lens stock trials
· Check office email daily
· Educate patients on lens insertion and removal and overall care of contact lenses
· Call on all “year out” appointments for the day
· Perform all preliminary testing required by the doctor
· Clean all the sinks and counter/tabletops, vacuum, empty trash cans
· Turn off all equipment and cover all instruments
Education:
· One (1) year of related experience
· Optical preferred but will train
· HS diploma, GED or equivalent related job experience
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
