As a Bar & Lounge Server Assistant of The Umstead Hotel and Spa, the primary function of this position is to ensure guest satisfaction by supporting the Bar & Lounge team in a variety of tasks to ensure smooth and efficient service. Responsibilities for this position include:

Report to work at the scheduled time, neatly groomed & in line with all Umstead Grooming Standards.

Maintain a clean environment conducive to the service of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as food.

Retain full knowledge of food and beverage menus and stay up to date with seasonal changes.

Assist in the routine stocking of beer, wine, liquor, paper goods, and other supplies.

Maintain floor presence throughout the entire lounge and terrace area by circulating routinely.

Basic knowledge of setting up, maintaining, and breaking down bar and server stations.

Respond to and appropriately communicate guest requests to Servers and Managers, as needed.

Assist in the clearing and resetting of tables.

In addition, other duties may be required as directed by your Manager.
Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work a flexible shift that includes nights, weekends and holidays

Must be able to continuously stand/walk a minimum of 8 hours

Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. over the course of a shift.

Must be able to bend, kneel, push and pull over the course of a shift.

Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, both written and oral.

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per The Umstead Hotel standards.

Will be occasionally required to perform job functions outdoors and be exposed to sun, heat, humidity and other elements.

Must be able to operate all bar related equipment: coffee machine, dishwasher, wine/ bottle opener
- High school or equivalent education required

Must have a minimum of 1 years experience in a similar position.

Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks.

Must be a self-motivator and motivator of others.

Must work in a safe, prudent and organized manner.

Must have a good knowledge of food and preparation.

Must have or quickly acquire a good knowledge of wine.

Must be able to relate to all levels of guests and management.

Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.

Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.

Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks occasionally.
