Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide exceptional care to our 4 residents in a home setting on our Overnight 11pm to 7am shift, full time. This position includes every other weekend commitment. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with Alzheimer's and Dementia, be able to work independently, utilizing logical decision-making skills. Our new hire will be able to prioritize needs and spend time with residents in between tasks as the there is a small caseload of 4 individuals to care for. Playing bingo, baking with them, doing nails or other needed tasks in the home to remain in good order. This role requires a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for patients through attentive care and support.
Duties
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Overnights will complete bed checks for the 4 residents, or answer their bell, help prepare food for the next day, do some cleaning or organizing to help the home run smoothly the next day or get caught up on laundry. Overnights is an important role to set the home up for success and start the day off well for the residents.
- Monitor and report changes in patients’ health status to nursing staff.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and their families.
- Help with mobility and transportation within the home or to/from day program.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in training sessions and educational programs as required.
Requirements
- Experience working with Alzheimer's and Dementia.
- 5 years Experience with geriatrics, Homecare, nursing home setting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Compassionate demeanor with a strong commitment to QUALITY patient-centered care.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
- Certification or training as a Certified Nursing Assistant current or in the past, a Personal Care Assistant is an advantage but not mandatory.
