Middle School Classroom Teacher (Mathematics/Science-STEM)
Summary: Under the general supervision of the School Director, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Compensation: Base Salary-Certified-$73,500, $2,000 Testing Grade, (Adv. Degrees $3,000 for masters, $5,000 for doctorate). $200/ year for applicable experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. (Masters preferred)
- Valid New York Instructional Certificate and Subject Area Endorsement or eligibility.
- Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation.
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of the use of various technological software and equipment for tasks such as, but not limited to, word processing, data management, information retrieval, visual presentations, and telecommunications.
- Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters.
- Knowledge of child growth and development, individual differences in ability, personality and interests and learning/motivational techniques.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Knowledge of Smartboard functions and tools.
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of grade specific school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; parents, students and faculty etc.

The Elementary Mathematics/Science-STEM Teacher develops and delivers standards-based mathematics, science, and STEM instruction aligned with district goals, fostering a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment for all students. Responsibilities include planning and implementing lessons, assessing student progress, differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs, maintaining accurate records and anecdotal notes, collaborating with administration and colleagues, and adapting curriculum to support student success on district and state assessments. The teacher communicates regularly with parents, manages classroom behavior in accordance with school policies, participates in professional development and school committees, maintains instructional resources and inventory, and provides additional after-school support to struggling students within contracted hours.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the School Director and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Experience: Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
Equipment: Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.
Travel Requirements: Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
