The Village of Flower Hill is seeking a dependable, hardworking individual for a full-time Laborer position with the Department of Public Works.
This is a hands-on position involving primarily outdoor work throughout the Village in all weather conditions. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Building and grounds maintenance
- Road and drainage maintenance
- Planting and maintenance of trees, shrubs and flowers. Mowing and general landscaping, including operation of ride-on mowers, blowers and other equipment
- Snow and ice removal
- General labor and other DPW duties as needed
Applicants must have a valid New York State driver’s license. A CDL is preferred but is notrequired at the time of hire. The successful candidate must obtain a CDL within six months of employment and Village will provide assistance with CDL training, if necessary.
Applicants should be dependable, able to perform physical outdoor work, work well as part of a team, and be willing to respond to weather-related and other Village emergencies when needed. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Employment is subject to a satisfactory driving record and successful completion of required pre-employment screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
Regular hours 7 am – 3 pm. Must be available for after-hour emergencies after 3 pm and on weekends (overtime).
Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include health insurance and NYS Retirement benefits.
