Founded in 1996, Families First is a non-profit organization that provides person-centered services for individuals living with developmental disabilities in Southern Vermont. Our services aim to promote independent living, enhance self-esteem, and cultivate community membership through caring and respectful relationships.
We are seeking a part-time Crisis Team Member every Monday & Friday. There is also a rotating once a month Saturday shift open as well. Crisis shifts are 24 hours on-call (9am to 9am the following day) with 8 hours of guaranteed pay if not utilized. When oncall, staff are expected to respond in a reasonable timeframe to any advocate we serve in Windham County. A leadership member will have the crisis pager and will direct you in terms of any needs that arise on your crisis day/shift.
As a crisis team member, you will provide direct care and support in program houses and in the community to youth and adults living with developmental disabilities. Support may include crisis intervention, behavioral management, personal care, nutrition, housekeeping, medication administration, and other daily activities. You will follow medical and safety protocols as directed by the agency nurse and Crisis Response lead.
There is a $300 sign-on bonus for part-time employees and $500 for full-time employees after 90 days of continued employment. All trainings are paid.
Responsibilities
- Have technical skills. Families First utilizes the Carelogic database daily to log time worked, write progress notes, and address self-advocacy goals. Having regular access to a laptop and/or home computer is highly recommended.
- Communicate regularly with office staff at Families First around any duties, clinical issues, questions, and/or follow-ups concerns. Must have proficiency in working with teams and providing respectful support to vulnerable individuals.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Driver's License are required, as you will be traveling throughout Windham County. Prospective employees must be able to pass background checks and have 2 successful professional references.
- Willingness to work with all Families First Advocates in Windham County
- Comfortability with providing personal care and offering behavioral supports
- Ability to attend any required training (Crisis prevention, Special care procedures, med delegation, fingerprints...)
- Ability to work the full 24 hours, overnights included. Employees are paid regularly for anytime worked during a crisis shift, 8 hours minimum if not utilized. Employees will earn overtime for any hours worked over 40 a week.
