Position Summary
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all maintenance operations within a fast-paced manufacturing facility in Orangeburg, NY. This role ensures optimal equipment reliability, facility safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient preventive maintenance programs. The Maintenance Manager leads a team of maintenance technicians and works cross-functionally with production, safety, and quality teams to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise, train, and develop maintenance technicians and support staff.
- Schedule shifts and assign maintenance tasks based on production priorities.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and manage disciplinary actions when necessary.
Preventive & Corrective Maintenance
- Develop, implement, and manage a preventive and predictive maintenance program.
- Oversee troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing equipment, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and work order documentation.
Facility & Equipment Oversight
- Ensure plant utilities (HVAC, compressors, boilers, etc.) are operating efficiently.
- Manage capital improvement projects and equipment installations.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and services.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and control maintenance budgets.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Enforce Lockout/Tagout procedures and safety protocols.
- Participate in safety audits and risk assessments.
- Maintain documentation required for inspections.
Budget & Cost Control
- Develop and manage the annual maintenance budget.
- Track maintenance expenses and identify cost-saving initiatives.
- Evaluate the lifecycle equipment and recommend replacements when necessary.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2–3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience in plastics, packaging, or high-speed production environments preferred in a manufacturing setting.
Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems (480V), PLC troubleshooting, motors, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
- Experience with CMMS systems.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance best practices.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Soft Skills

- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk the production floor for extended periods.
