American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with 2+ years of experience for a 13-week acute care evening shift assignment covering adults, peds, and NICU Level IIB patients.

Acute care hospital setting covering all inpatient floors, ER, PACU, and multiple ICU specialty areas

Patient population includes NICU Level IIB, MICU, Peds, Adults, and Geriatrics

Handles 25–28 treatments per day on an 8-hour shift basis

Primary shift: 11:00 AM – 11:30 PM (12-hour evenings); additional shift options include days (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM) and nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)

Weekend requirement: every other weekend

Travelers are last to sign up for scheduling and must remain flexible to fill staffing gaps; block scheduling is not accommodated

May be asked to trade shifts with staff or rotate between shifts; all RTO requests must be submitted in advance

Travelers will be asked to float throughout the hospital and may be asked to float mid-shift to sister facilities approximately 10–14 miles away

Float minimum notice: 60 minutes prior to shift

Charting system: Epic

Equipment used includes Dräger V500, Hamilton, ReVel, V60, Vapotherm, and EPOC
-
RRT credential required (CRT not accepted)

Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience
-
Must be proficient with adults, pediatrics, and NICU patients
-
Active certifications required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), NRP, and S.T.A.B.L.E.

Experience with Level II NICU and comfort attending deliveries and initiating CPAP strongly preferred
-
Must be comfortable floating between all specialties including ICU, MICU, Med/Surg Telemetry, and ER
-
License required if applicable; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted

Driver's license required for consideration

2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; no local candidates accepted

Responsibilities include performing ABGs (radial or brachial), all standard respiratory treatments, and managing patients on respiratory equipment

Intubation role is assist-only; independent intubation is not required
-
24/7 in-house coverage includes intensivists, hospitalists, and anesthesia; eICU monitoring is available at night
-
Shift leadership provided by a day and night supervisor/charge therapist who manages assignments and serves as a resource; supervisor may take patient assignments if needed
-
Orientation consists of 1–2 preceptor shifts, typically one day covering NICU/general and one day covering ICU

Scrubs: any color, clean and professional appearance required

Former permanent employees must have been separated from the facility for at least one year before being considered for a travel assignment
