American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN for a night shift charge nurse role at an acute care hospital in West Virginia, requiring prior OR experience across multiple specialties including robotics and ortho.

Acute care hospital OR setting with 9 OR suites, 1 procedure room, and 1 hybrid room, operating 24/7
-
Handles 35–45 cases per day across a broad range of specialties including general, ENT, eyes, ortho, robotics (Da Vinci and Rosa), neuro spine, vascular, peds (dental and ENT), and emergent cases — all surgical specialties except CVОР and L&D/C-sections

Night shift RN serves as the sole RN on the floor alongside 2 OR techs, and rotates through charge nurse responsibilities

Schedule: 8-hour shifts, 5 days per week, Sunday–Thursday, 11:00 PM–7:30 AM
-
On-call requirements include one weeknight on-call rotation (7p–7a) and one weekend 24-hour on-call block per month (7a–7p); holiday call rotation as needed

Call response time is 30 minutes; candidates on call who live more than 30 minutes from the facility may be required to stay on-site

Floating may be required to outpatient surgery

EMR: Epic (experience required)

OR staff are almost entirely travel professionals

Active WV RN license or compact RN license required

Current BLS and ACLS (both AHA) required; PALS preferred

Minimum 2–3 years of OR experience required, with experience across all major specialties

Prior travel assignment experience required (2–3 assignments)

Ortho experience required
-
Hands-on experience passing arms in and out for robotic-assisted surgery (Da Vinci) required

Epic EMR experience required

Must be comfortable functioning as the sole RN overnight with 2 OR techs
-
Driver's license address must reflect a residence more than 50 miles from the facility

Two professional references required: one supervisor reference and one peer or additional supervisor reference

Skills checklist completed within the past year required for consideration

Copies of certifications and driver's license required for consideration

Scrubbing skills are a plus but not required for RNs
-
OR techs are responsible for room turnover; no housekeeping or aides are available on the unit

Scrubs are provided for RNs and OR techs
-
Orientation consists of 3 shifts over 1 week

Candidates who have previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying; cumulative experience applies and travelers may not work within the WVU system for more than one year without a 2-year break
