Responsibilities
- Administer prescribed medications accurately following state healthcare regulations and facility protocols
- Assist residents with personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor vital signs and observe residents for any changes in health status or behavior
- Maintain detailed medical documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
- Support residents with specialized needs including Alzheimer’s, dementia, memory care, and hospice care
- Perform manual handling tasks safely when assisting with transfers or heavy lifting while adhering to safety standards
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare team members to coordinate care plans and report concerns promptly
Skills
- Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care settings is highly desirable
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior care best practices
- Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic or Cerner; familiarity with medical documentation standards
- Certification in First Aid, CPR, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Tube Feeding preferred; ongoing training encouraged
- Ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities and those requiring specialized dementia or Alzheimer’s care
- Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities to foster trust and rapport with residents and team members
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks necessary for resident assistance
