American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with 7 years of experience for a day shift, 13-week contract position in a hospital surgical services department in Paducah, KY.

Monday through Friday, day shift hours from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM

On-call required 1 to 2 nights per week and every 3rd weekend

40 hours per week, 8 hours per day, 5 days per week

13-week contract

Minimum of 7 years of surgical technology experience required

Completion of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Surgical Technology program, or a Surgical Technologist program through the United States Armed Forces

BLS certification required

One of the following credentials required: NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCCT Tech in Surgery – Certified (TS-C)

Serves as the primary scrub person or assistant for operative procedures

Responsibilities are divided across surgical prep, intraoperative support, post-case cleanup, and compliance with hospital policies

Surgical prep duties include scrubbing into cases, ensuring instruments and supplies are available, setting up cases with thorough sterilization, maintaining the sterile field, and alerting the circulating nurse of any identified risks

Intraoperative duties include passing instruments, assisting the physician, performing instrument/sponge/sharps counts, maintaining the sterile field, draping, and assisting with patient positioning
-
Post-case responsibilities include gross decontamination of instruments, coordinating breakdown for Central Sterile Processing, ensuring instrument transport standards are followed, reporting damaged instruments, disinfecting the surgical suite, and restocking the room

Must complete all mandatory hospital education and maintain compliance with HR and Employee Health requirements
