Position Title: Scientific Program Analyst, Full-Time

VMG is seeking a Scientific Program Analyst to support the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). This position provides scientific and operational support for NINDS extramural research programs by developing and maintaining research policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training materials, and web-based resources. The Scientific Program Analyst will collaborate with scientific and administrative staff to improve research operations, support communications initiatives, and enhance the effectiveness of extramural research programs and trans-NIH initiatives.
- Develop, update, and maintain NINDS extramural research policies, guidance documents, and training materials.
- Draft, edit, publish, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) supporting extramural research operations and scientific workflows.
- Develop and maintain website content, SharePoint sites, Microsoft Teams channels, and other information repositories supporting extramural research operations.
- Collaborate with NINDS staff to ensure scientific resources and operational documentation remain accurate, current, and aligned with NIH policies.
- Research, analyze, summarize, and present scientific and policy information from multiple sources for leadership and program staff.
- Coordinate logistics for scientific meetings, workshops, training sessions, and operational meetings.
- Prepare presentations, reports, meeting materials, spreadsheets, and communication resources for division leadership and stakeholders.
- Track SOP development, project milestones, action items, and deliverables while ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Review extramural research workflows and enterprise systems to identify opportunities for operational improvements and increased efficiency.
- Develop recommendations to strengthen outreach, education, and communication strategies for NINDS extramural programs.
- Collaborate with the Office of Communications and Public Liaison to support communication initiatives and stakeholder engagement.
- Deliver progress reports and presentations to sponsors, leadership, and other stakeholder groups.
- Organize and maintain centralized repositories of reports, presentations, meeting minutes, guidance documents, and research resources.
- Master's degree in Neuroscience, Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Pharmacology, Physiology, Biomedical Engineering, Community and Public Health, Communications, Computer Science, Information Sciences, or a related discipline.
- Strong technical writing, editing, and document development skills.
- Knowledge of NIH grants, funding mechanisms, and extramural research processes.
- Experience developing website content and maintaining web-based resources.
- Experience establishing collaborative relationships with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of plain language principles and scientific communications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Drupal or another web content management system is preferred.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects while working independently and collaboratively.
- Experience supporting NIH or other federally funded biomedical research programs.
- Experience developing scientific policies, guidance documents, or Standard Operating Procedures.
- Experience supporting extramural research administration or research operations.
- Experience with SharePoint site administration, content management, and collaboration tools.
- Experience coordinating scientific meetings, training programs, and stakeholder communications.
- Familiarity with NIH research administration systems and enterprise collaboration platforms.
- Full-time position (40 hours per week).
- Monday through Friday schedule.
- Position is located at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) in Rockville, Maryland.
- Telework is available in accordance with government approval.
- Professional office environment supporting scientific program administration, policy development, and research operations.
