Job Title: Mental Health Therapist

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate, skilled, and dedicated Mental Health Therapist to join our team at Metro Social Services Inc. The therapist will provide comprehensive mental health services to students, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic interventions, and crisis response. This position involves close collaboration with school staff and families to support students' overall well-being.
Responsibilities:
· Provide direct mental health counseling services to students individually, in group settings, or with families to address emotional, social, and behavioral issues.
· Conduct comprehensive psycho-social assessments to evaluate students' mental health needs.
· Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for students in consultation with school staff and families.
· Use evidence-based therapeutic techniques, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, or Trauma-Informed Therapy, to address student mental health needs.
· Respond effectively to crisis situations involving students' mental health.
· Collaborate closely with school personnel, including teachers, school counselors, and administrators, to support integrating mental health services into the overall school environment.
· Participate in multidisciplinary teams, including Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, to address students' mental health needs as part of their educational plan.
· Provide mental health education and consultation to school staff and families.
· Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation, including assessment results, treatment plans, progress notes, and any communication related to the student.
· Comply with all local, state, and federal laws regarding mental health services in schools and confidentiality of student records.
Required Qualification:
· Licensed Therapist / Clinical Trainees with a master’s degree working towards licensure.
· Experience working with African American families is preferred
· Experience conducting intake and Diagnostic Assessments.
· Ability to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
· Knowledge of electronic record keeping
· Strong organization and interpersonal/communication skills
