JOB DESCRIPTION
Bookkeeper
Summary: Works with the Financial Manager to conduct all accounts payable and accounts receivable activities and all other duties as directed.
Responsibilities:
- Posting payments to accounts
- Organizing and filing deposit receipts as invoices are paid
- Preparing reports on delinquent accounts and vendor payment profiles
- Assisting in reconciling cash receipts and deposits.
- Analyzing financial records for accuracy using bookkeeping databases, spreadsheets and software like QuickBooks and Excel
- Posting financial transactions in databases.
- Receiving and recording vouchers, cash and checks.
- Producing a variety of reports including income statements and balance sheets
- Checking for accuracy in reports, figures and postings
- Reconciling and reporting any discrepancies found in the records
- Prepare payroll including federal and state taxes, direct deposits, employee benefits contributions and wage garnishments/attachments; reconcile time sheets and Contractor invoices.
- Assist Financial Manager, including identification and pulling of transactions, invoices, and checks for audit function.
- All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:
- An associate’s degree or higher education in Finance, Accounting or related field.
- Two or more years of experience in accounting, finance and reporting of multi-grant non-profit organization.
- Excellent data entry skills
- Demonstrated competencies in general office and accounting software applications are a must. MS office and QuickBooks strongly preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- High level of integrity and trustworthiness
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must exhibit excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Knowledge of federal, state and local granting financial processes.
- Demonstrated understanding of responsibilities and issues affecting federal, state and local government policy choices and experience in community mobilization.
- Must hold current CT driver’s license, have own transportation and proof of insurance.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
The work is primarily sedentary with some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, such as manual, charts, paper and books. The work environment involves the normal risk associated with high risk-areas, as well as discomfort typical of community-based organizations. The work places no special physical demands on the employee.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
