Position Overview
The Marine Sales Associate role focuses on four key areas: personal productivity, prospecting, selling, and follow-up. Success in this role is driven by a strong commitment to customer satisfaction, relationship development, and consistent performance. You will work closely with customers to understand their needs, demonstrate products, coordinate delivery, and maintain a structured follow-up process that generates repeat and referral business.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish personal income and performance goals aligned with dealership productivity standards
- Report regularly to the Sales Manager regarding objectives, planned activities, performance results, and improvement opportunities
- Attend dealership and manufacturer meetings and training sessions
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of inventory, features, accessories, and marine technology, clearly communicating customer benefits
- Build, manage, and maintain a prospecting and follow-up system
- Collaborate with service department personnel to ensure boats are reconditioned and delivered on schedule
- Introduce customers to service department team members to ensure a smooth ownership transition
- Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and annual performance reviews to improve time management and sales effectiveness
Job Requirements
Successful Marine Sales Associates are professional, self-motivated, and customer-focused, with strong time management and communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills and professional appearance
- Ability to walk the lot, demonstrate boat features, and participate in on-water test drives
- Ability to consistently meet dealership sales expectations, maintaining a 90-day average of four boats per month
- Valid in-state driver’s license
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening, including background checks, drug testing, and driver’s license verification
