Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Medical Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of AHCCCS, billing processes, coding systems, and insurance claim procedures. As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for managing all AHCCCS reports and secondary billing, ensuring accurate coding, timely submission of claims, and effective follow-up on outstanding accounts. Must be detailed oriented. Your expertise will contribute to the smooth financial operations of our healthcare facility and support optimal revenue cycle management. The candidate must be able to work in-office.
Responsibilities
- Review and work monthly AHCCCS reports and monitor claim status, follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and initiate appeals as necessary to ensure prompt reimbursement.
- Prepare and resubmit accurate insurance claims through Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems in compliance with payer requirements.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure proper coding for billing accuracy.
- Stay current with changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance.
- Assist in resolving patient billing inquiries and facilitate effective communication between patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers.
- Process all secondaries for private and AHCCCS patients.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing with a solid understanding of medical coding including ICD-10 and CPT coding and medical terminology.
- Must have over 1 year billing experience with AHCCCS in a primary setting.
- Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems for billing purposes and managing electronic claims submissions.
- Knowledge of medical collection procedures and effective strategies for accounts receivable management.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in coding and billing processes.
- Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients.
