Job Summary
Entry bench technician who repairs and services Shimadzu Turbomolecular Pumps, power supplies, and other vacuum equipment at the Austin Service Center under supervision, working individually or with the team to maintain low turnaround time and quality. Builds an initial range of pump models.
Essential Responsibilities
Safety & Conduct
● Understand and adhere to all work-safety policies; follow Shimadzu decontamination and cleaning procedures and wear proper PPE.
● Work cooperatively; provide reports and ask for guidance.
Bench Repair (Beginner)
● Repair, test, and troubleshoot vacuum equipment per repair/test procedures and specifications.
● Operate handling equipment (lifter, crane); package/unpackage safely; distinguish Cu vs. Non-Cu.
● Connect TMP, controller, and cable; start/stop/operate in LOCAL; confirm/change parameters; retrieve alarm logs via EI-Monitor.
Foundational Knowledge
● Understand TMP structure and components; identify harmful vs. safe gases; understand the Cu/Non-Cu distinction.
Applications (Introductory)
● Explain balancer purpose; operate and clean the balancer.
● Explain and use the He leak detector for leak checks.
Records & Housekeeping
● Provide accurate documentation, photos, and records; support Quality CAPA and FA when requested.
● Support service-parts inventory; perform PM on shop equipment per schedule; support shipping/receiving; keep work areas clean and organized.
Pay: $20.00 - $32.00 per hour
