Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Registered Nurse Supervisor to lead our nursing team in providing outstanding patient care within a dynamic healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for elevating patient outcomes. As a Registered Nurse Supervisor, you will oversee daily nursing operations, ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, and foster an environment of continuous improvement and compassionate care.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate nursing staff to deliver high-quality patient care while maintaining compliance with all relevant healthcare standards and regulations.
- Oversee patient assessments, medical documentation, and care planning to ensure individualized treatment approaches.
- Manage staffing schedules, monitor performance, and provide ongoing training to promote professional development within the team.
- Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and maintain the confidentiality of patient information through accurate medical records management.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to facilitate discharge planning, medication administration, and complex clinical procedures such as IV infusion, catheter care, and ventilator management.
- Conduct regular audits of nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with state healthcare regulations and long-term care standards.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner for documentation accuracy and efficient workflow management.
- Promote infection control practices and aseptic techniques to safeguard patient safety across all clinical activities.
Requirements
- Valid registered nurse (RN) license in good standing with the appropriate state licensing board.
- Proven supervisory experience within long-term care facilities or acute care environments such as Level I or Level II trauma centers.
- Extensive clinical experience in critical care settings including ICU, emergency medicine, or medical-surgical units; experience in dialysis or cardiac catheterization is advantageous.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physical examinations, vital signs assessment, medication administration including injections and IV insertion, and medical terminology.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing teams effectively while fostering a positive work environment.
- Excellent communication skills for managerial coordination and team management; ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, state healthcare laws, long-term care regulations, and utilization review processes.
- Ability to handle complex clinical situations involving trauma or acute pain management; experience working with individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs is desirable.
- Certification in basic life support (BLS) required; additional certifications such as ACLS or PALS are a plus.
