Light Farm Mechanic
Position Summary
We are seeking a dependable Light Farm Mechanic to support the day-to-day maintenance and repair of farm equipment and vehicles. This position is responsible for routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and basic repairs to help keep farm operations running safely and efficiently.
The ideal candidate has some mechanical experience, is comfortable working with tools and equipment, and takes pride in keeping machinery in good working condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on farm equipment and vehicles.
- Maintain and service tractors, implements, mowers, grounds equipment, trailers, and general farm equipment.
- Perform oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, belt and hose replacement, and other preventative maintenance.
- Inspect equipment regularly and identify worn, damaged, or malfunctioning components.
- Troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical issues and make repairs when appropriate.
- Maintain trailers, including lights, tires, bearings, brakes, and other basic components.
- Assist with seasonal preparation and servicing of equipment.
- Keep tools, work areas, and equipment clean, organized, and safe.
- Maintain basic records of maintenance and repairs performed.
- Communicate equipment problems and repair needs to the farm manager.
- Follow all farm safety procedures and manufacturer recommendations.
- Assist with other farm maintenance duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Some prior mechanical experience required; farm, automotive, landscaping, or similar experience is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, hand tools, and power tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose common equipment problems.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver tools and equipment as needed.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
- Valid driver's license preferred.

Experience working with any of the following is a plus:
- Tractors and farm implements
- Mowers and grounds-maintenance equipment
- Trailers
- Small engines
- Hydraulic systems
- Basic electrical systems
- Welding and fabrication
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move tools, parts, and equipment.
- Ability to safely work around operating farm machinery and vehicles.
