Position Summary
The Payroll Manager oversees and manages the organization's payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee compensation, tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and payroll reporting across multiple states. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and payroll tax regulations while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy of employee payroll records.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely processing of salaries, bonuses, commissions, overtime, deductions, and other payroll transactions
- Oversee payroll operations across multiple states, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax, wage and hour, and employment regulations
- Review and audit payroll records and transactions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to company policies
- Maintain payroll records and employee data within payroll systems
- Coordinate payroll tax filings, year-end reporting, and W-2 processing
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve payroll discrepancies
- Monitor legislative and regulatory changes and implement necessary updates to payroll policies, procedures, and systems
- Collaborate with HR regarding compensation changes, employee status updates, benefits administration, and related payroll impacts
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Prepare payroll reports, analytics, and audit documentation for leadership and regulatory requirements
- Develop and maintain payroll policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Support internal and external audits related to payroll activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of payroll experience, including leadership or supervisory experience.
- Experience managing and processing multi-state payroll
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements and wage and hour laws
- Experience with payroll software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
