Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInstruction and Curriculum
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-aligned science lessons that support student mastery of state academic standards.
- Implement STEM-focused instructional strategies, including inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, and hands-on laboratory experiences.
- Integrate technology and engineering design principles into science instruction.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, linguistic, and social-emotional needs of all students.
- Utilize student performance data to drive instructional planning and intervention.
- Develop and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress.
- Maintain accurate records of student achievement and communicate progress regularly to students and families.
Classroom Environment
- Establish and maintain a safe, positive, and orderly learning environment.
- Promote high expectations for student achievement, behavior, and engagement.
- Implement the school's behavior management systems and restorative practices.
- Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety procedures and protocols.
STEM Program Development
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary STEM learning experiences.
- Facilitate student participation in science fairs, STEM competitions, robotics programs, and other enrichment opportunities.
- Support the integration of STEM initiatives across grade levels and content areas.
- Foster creativity, innovation, and real-world application of scientific concepts.
Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in professional learning communities, team meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
- Collaborate with special education teachers, ESOL teachers, interventionists, and instructional coaches to support student success.
- Engage in ongoing professional development and continuous improvement efforts.
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and community partners.
- Support the mission, vision, and core values of the charter school.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree in Science, Science Education, STEM Education, or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification or eligibility for certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of state science standards and instructional best practices.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to educational equity and high expectations for all students.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Education, Science, or a related field.
- Experience teaching in a charter school or STEM-focused educational environment.
- Experience with project-based learning (PBL), inquiry-based instruction, and STEM integration.
- ESOL endorsement or experience working with English Language Learners.
- Experience using educational technology and learning management systems.
