Hosanna Christian School is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and Christ-centered Kindergarten Teacher to join our team. The Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for providing a nurturing, engaging, and academically excellent learning environment where students develop a strong foundation in literacy, mathematics, biblical truth, and Christian character. The teacher partners with families to support each child's spiritual, intellectual, creative, physical, and social growth while preparing students for future academic success.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClassroom Instruction
- Plan and deliver engaging daily lessons that meet Kindergarten learning objectives.
- Teach foundational skills in reading, phonics, handwriting, math, science, social studies, and Bible.
- Utilize the Abeka curriculum while incorporating hands-on learning experiences and differentiated instruction.
- Encourage curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.
- Integrate biblical principles throughout all subject areas and classroom activities.
Classroom Management
- Create a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
- Establish consistent routines and age-appropriate behavior expectations.
- Foster positive relationships that encourage confidence, kindness, responsibility, and respect.
- Supervise students throughout the school day, including recess, lunch, field trips, and special events.
Student Development
- Support the spiritual, academic, emotional, social, and physical development of every student.
- Assess student progress through observations, assignments, and assessments.
- Maintain accurate student records, report cards, and progress reports.
- Identify students who may need additional academic or behavioral support and collaborate with administration and families.
Family Communication
- Build strong partnerships with parents through consistent communication.
- Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide updates regarding student progress.
- Respond professionally and promptly to parent questions and concerns.
School Participation
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, staff, and administration.
- Attend faculty meetings, professional development, and school functions.
- Participate in chapel services, special programs, open houses, and school events.
- Support the mission and vision of Hosanna Christian School in all interactions.
Qualifications
- Active participation in a local, Bible-believing Christian church is required.
- A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a lifestyle that reflects Christian values.
- Agreement with the mission, philosophy, and statement of faith of Hosanna Christian School.
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field preferred.
- Washington State teaching certification or ability to meet school requirements preferred.
- Experience teaching Kindergarten or early elementary students preferred.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and effective instructional practices.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching with the Abeka curriculum.
- Previous experience in a Christian school setting.
- Ability to integrate faith into all areas of instruction.
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
- Stand and walk for extended periods throughout the school day.
- Bend, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 30 pounds as needed.
- Supervise students indoors and outdoors.
- Participate in classroom activities, playground supervision, and school events.
