We are adding another wheel-chair van driver to our business! Our full-time wheel-chair van drivers work Monday through Friday and keep their work vehicle at their house. This means no commute time to or from work, no gas to get to work and no wear and tear on your personal vehicle!
While the nature of our business causes frequent schedule fluctuations, our typical driving hours are between 5AM and 5PM. This does not mean drivers work from 5AM to 5PM... just that their schedule could start as early as 5AM or end as late as 5PM. Drivers are expected to have open availability on their scheduled days to work. While we aim to have everyone home by 5PM, we cannot guarantee it as appointments can run late.
We are closed on weekends and major holidays (New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day) which means no work on these days!
Our full-time drivers earn one week of PTO after one year of service. PTO increases with seniority. We try to accommodate unpaid time off as long as we receive enough notice to adjust the schedule accordingly. Additionally, full-time drivers receive holiday pay for the holidays we do not operate on.
Some things we'll need from you...
- Superb customer service. We typically serve elderly and/or disabled populations. You will greatly impact this person's day and it is our mission to create a wonderful experience for them.
- Great attendance and punctuality. Have you ever waited around for someone only to find out they weren't coming? Do you know anyone on dialysis, chemo or other life sustaining treatments and what they go through if they miss an appointment? Have you ever had to scramble to clean up someone else's mess because they decided not to show up to work? All of these are very real problems that affect our team and our passengers when we aren't doing our part to hire reliable people.
- Clean caregiver, criminal and driving record. We must run thorough background checks on all of our drivers. You must be able to pass this check.
- Ability to pass a drug screen. Unfortunately, use of CBD oil for anxiety, sleep and other legal reasons cannot be differentiated on the drug screen so this would disqualify you.
- Use of your smartphone. Your timekeeping, communication with the office and trip performance will all be done on your smartphone using company apps.
- The physical ability to walk, bend, push, pull and lift. You will need to walk in and out of hospitals and other facilities to assist your passenger to the vehicle. You will need to be able to push a wheel-chair from the facility, into the van, bend to strap it down, and also be able to fold up and lift walkers into the vehicle.
Preference is currently being given to drivers located in the Watertown area.
