Landscape Construction Foreman (Hardscape, Concrete & Fence Division)

Position Summary
Philz Landscaping is looking for an experienced Landscape Construction Foreman to lead our installation crews on high-quality outdoor construction projects. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on hardscape construction, concrete, fencing, grading, excavation, drainage, and landscape installations.
This is NOT a lawn maintenance position. We specialize in building beautiful outdoor spaces for residential and commercial clients, and we're looking for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, leadership, and delivering exceptional results.
ResponsibilitiesCrew Leadership
- Lead and supervise a landscape construction crew of 2–6 employees.
- Assign daily tasks and ensure projects stay on schedule.
- Train and mentor crew members on proper installation techniques and safety.
- Maintain a productive, positive, and professional work environment.
- Communicate daily with project managers regarding job progress and material needs.
Hardscape Installation
- Install paver patios, walkways, driveways, retaining walls, steps, fire pits, outdoor kitchens, seating walls, and other hardscape features.
- Read and interpret landscape plans and construction drawings.
- Ensure proper base preparation, grading, drainage, and compaction.
- Produce clean, accurate, and professional finished products.
Concrete Construction
- Form, pour, finish, and cure concrete for sidewalks, patios, driveways, curbing, pads, and other flatwork.
- Understand proper reinforcement, grading, and finishing techniques.
- Ensure all concrete work meets company quality standards.
Fence Installation
- Install vinyl, aluminum, wood, chain-link, and privacy fencing.
- Layout fence lines accurately.
- Set posts, gates, and hardware properly.
- Troubleshoot installation challenges in the field.
Landscape Construction
- Install drainage systems, French drains, dry creek beds, and grading improvements.
- Install planting beds, trees, shrubs, mulch, decorative stone, and landscape features.
- Operate compact equipment including skid steers, mini excavators, loaders, and compactors.
Equipment & Safety
- Safely operate company trucks, trailers, and construction equipment.
- Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site.
- Follow OSHA safety practices and company procedures at all times.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of landscape construction experience.
- Previous foreman or crew leadership experience preferred.
- Strong experience with hardscape installation.
- Concrete forming and finishing experience required.
- Fence installation experience required.
- Ability to read construction plans and layout projects.
- Experience operating skid steers, mini excavators, compactors, and other construction equipment.
- Valid driver's license required.
- CDL is a plus.
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
