Madison, WI | Contractor Position

Shutter Zone Media is one of Wisconsin's leading real estate media companies, and we're actively expanding our presence in the Madison market.
We're looking for a talented, professional, and reliable media specialist who wants more than just occasional freelance projects. Our goal is to build a long-term partnership with someone who can become our primary photographer and media specialist serving Madison and the surrounding area.

About the Role
This is a field-based position focused on creating professional real estate marketing media for residential and commercial properties.
You'll work directly with real estate agents, homeowners, and our internal team to capture media that helps properties stand out and sell faster.
We're especially interested in candidates who already have experience in photography, videography, drone operations, Matterport, floor plans, or related visual media services.
Real estate photography experience is a strong plus, but candidates with professional photography, videography, architectural, commercial, or content creation experience are encouraged to apply.
What You'll Do
- Photograph residential and commercial properties
- Capture professional interior and exterior media using our proven systems
- Perform drone photography and videography (PART 107 Drone Certification Needed)
- Create video walkthroughs and marketing content
- Complete floor plans, Matterport tours, and specialty services when applicable
- Communicate professionally with agents, homeowners, and team members
- Upload and deliver media according to company standards
- Represent Shutter Zone Media professionally at every appointment
- Maintain quality, consistency, and attention to detail across all projects
Schedule & Availability
- Monday-Friday availability needed
- Daytime business hours (9am to dusk)
- Occasional weekend appointments available
- Approximately 20-30 hours of availability per week is needed. While you choose when you work, appointments are scheduled during normal business hours, so daytime availability is essential
- Opportunity for additional assignments as the Madison market continues to grow
- Must live within approximately 15-20 miles of Madison to support efficient travel between appointments
- Reliable transportation required
- Flexibility during the work week is needed as appointments occasionally need to be adjusted or rescheduled
Real estate is a fast-paced and ever-changing industry, and successful team members are adaptable, professional, and able to adjust to schedule changes while continuing to provide an exceptional client experience.
Compensation
- Project-based contractor compensation
- Standard real estate photography appointments typically pay between $35-$75+ per shoot
Additional compensation for:
- Drone photography and videography
- Video production
- Floor plans
- Matterport tours
- Twilight photography
- Commercial projects
- Specialty media services
High-performing contractors capable of delivering multiple services can earn up to $200+ per appointment.
Mileage reimbursement may be available for assignments outside the primary service area
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional photography and videography experience
- Experience working with clients in a professional setting
- Strong portfolio demonstrating quality visual work
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Ability to work independently and manage appointments efficiently
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout the service area
- Professional camera equipment
- Computer and reliable internet connection for uploading and managing files
- FAA Part 107 Drone Certification preferred; candidates must be willing to obtain certification for the role if not currently certified
