Duties
- Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, slicing, and measuring to ensure smooth kitchen operations
- Cook menu items according to standardized recipes, maintaining consistency and quality in every dish
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and food processors
- Follow food safety standards and proper handling procedures to ensure a clean and hygienic workspace
- Assist with meal assembly and plating to ensure timely service during busy hours
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations by cleaning utensils, equipment, and surfaces regularly
- Support menu planning efforts by providing input on ingredient availability and preparation methods
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation within a restaurant or food industry setting
- Strong knowledge of safety standards in production environments and food handling procedures
- Excellent knife skills with slicing technique expertise for efficient prep work
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and adhere to meal presentation standards
- Effective communication skills to coordinate seamlessly with kitchen staff and front-of-house teams
- Familiarity with operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Experience in dietary department or dietary aide roles is a plus for specialized menu needs
- Knowledge of catering processes enhances ability to handle large-scale meal prep when needed
