The Controller will lead the accounting department and oversee day-to-day accounting operations, manage financial reporting, governance, internal controls, and ensure the company's accounting activities comply with GAAP.
What You'll Be Doing:

Prepare and maintain the company's monthly and annual financial statements.

Manage LWT accounting closing operations to determine revenue and related expenditure.
- Prepare and present technical research on complex revenue accounting issues.

Review contracts under ASC606 to ensure accurate revenue recognition and related capitalization of deferred costs.

Maintain SSP (Standalone Selling Price) to remain in compliance with ASC606.

Process allocations related to multi-element arrangements and fair value allocation in accordance with GAAP

Maintain deferred revenue reconciliations and ensure accuracy of balances monthly

Maintain and assess the daily cash flow outlook to determine business funding draw and paydown requirements, as well as distributions to shareholders
- Prepare and analyze monthly revenue fluctuations to understand revenue drivers

Oversee the preparation and completion of quarterly reconciliations and support for income taxes

Manage contractual database of company terms and obligations
- Investigate, coordinate, and resolve contractual issues, partnering with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and other functional departments.
- Process revenue allocation and revenue plans in the accounting system to ensure accurate revenue recognition treatment in the general ledger and support the monthly closing process

Review of A/R Aging to ensure timely collection of customer payments and appropriate reserve levels.
- Provide analytics for A/R, Deferred Revenue, Accrued Commissions, Revenue

Determine the monthly revenue outlook and work with the Finance team to perform monthly financial planning, analysis, and reporting activities

Oversee payroll activities managed by the Payroll Lead.
- Analyze and research actual to budget variances, partnering with finance to ensure accuracy of the monthly financial statements

Review, manage and suggest improvements for various other processes such as accounts payable, payroll, journal entries, and make accounting decisions related to appropriate coding of expenses

Work with the Inventory Management group to review and understand variances with inventory positions, value, quantity, and potential reserve requirements.
- Work with outside accounting firm to ensure the company's income tax returns are filed timely and accurately. Provide all necessary analysis and documentation for annual tax filings.
- Process and manage Intangible Assets, including monthly software capitalization and amortization transactions and reconciliation, and maintain schedules for internal and external capitalization expenses.

Assist with the reconfiguration of current processes and controls and ad hoc requests as needed

Hire, coach, motivate, evaluate, and manage accounting team by providing clear expectations and prioritization, actively communicating performance feedback, and coaching and mentoring staff to build an engaged, productive, and cohesive team

Recommend and undertake projects to research and implement improvements or additions to the company's policy, processes, and procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency of financial reporting
Your Experience & Qualifications:

B.A. or B.S. in Accounting or Finance; or equivalent combination of education and work experience; CPA preferred

8+ years progressive accounting and/or finance experience in a consulting or public accounting firm, or public / private mix

Knowledge of GAAP rules related to revenue reporting and ASC 606, technology industry/SaaS based company accounting principles and accounting for multiple element arrangements

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at once while completing quality work on a timely basis

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on providing outstanding customer service to a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Experience in accounting and CRM systems, NetSuite and/or Salesforce preferred

Experience with corporate income tax return preparation is a plus

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
