A registered nurse opportunity on a 24-bed surgical inpatient unit at a 198-bed, Level III trauma center in Farmington, NM — a community set in the San Juan River Valley at the crossroads of New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, and Utah.
The role. This RN position on the third-floor surgical inpatient unit involves caring for an adult population ranging from 18 to 100+, with a patient ratio of 1:6 maximum. The unit sees a mix of post-operative ortho, neurosurgical, and abdominal surgery patients alongside medical and nephrology cases as needed, meaning nurses regularly manage NG tubes, chest tubes, Foley catheters, and TURP patients in the same shift. Clinically, the caseload spans respiratory complications, diabetic management, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal, rib fractures, altered mental status, and complex pain management. The unit operates on Cerner and uses IV pumps and vital signs monitors throughout the shift.
What we're looking for.
- Required education: RN
- At least 2 years of acute care experience
- Post-operative patient care experience including ortho/neurosurgical/abdominal surgeries, NG tubes, chest tubes, Foley catheter/TURPs, respiratory issues, diabetic patient care, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal, rib fractures, altered mental status, and pain management
- BLS required upon submission
- All other required certifications can be obtained after hire
- Candidates must obtain New Mexico or Compact licensure prior to start
Schedule. Night shift, 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM rotation on the surgical inpatient unit.
Compensation. $29.05 - $46.48/hr plus $2 sign-on bonus
