We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join our fast-paced, high-energy healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to determine acuity levels and prioritize care.
- Administer medications and treatments such as IV infusions, suturing, catheterization, and medication administration following strict aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner to document patient information accurately, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage airway interventions, ventilator support, and acute pain management for critically ill patients in accordance with established emergency medicine procedures.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection, processing, and interpretation of results such as ICD coding and laboratory experience.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for trauma medicine, cardiac catheterization procedures, infectious disease care, and other specialized interventions like neuro or PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) support.
- Lead triage efforts to prioritize incoming patients based on severity of condition while providing excellent patient care in urgent care settings or emergency room environments.
- Support discharge planning by providing patient education on post-acute care needs such as wound care, medication management, or hospice & palliative medicine considerations.
Skills
- Extensive experience working in emergency medicine environments with Level I or Level II trauma center experience preferred.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding is highly desirable.
- Strong clinical skills including IV insertion, venipuncture (phlebotomy), suturing, airway management, and aseptic technique.
- Critical care experience in ICU or trauma settings; knowledge of physiology and advanced life support protocols such as Basic Life Support (BLS) is essential.
- Ability to perform rapid patient assessments under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in high-stakes situations involving acute pain management or infectious disease care.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics (geriatrics), behavioral health patients, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of hospital medicine practices including discharge planning, case management, MDS (Minimum Data Set), and long-term care experience is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating effectively with physicians, specialists in occupational health or home & community care providers while adhering to HIPAA standards.
