Overview
Staten Island based Plumbing Company seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Estimator to support our estimating team. In this role, you will support our senior estimator by preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project specifications, and assisting with bid submissions. Duties
- Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates by gathering and analyzing data from blueprints and specifications
- Support negotiation processes with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms
- Help compile bid packages, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete and compliant with client requirements
- Maintain organized bid files and estimating databases
- Enter pricing information into estimating software and spreadsheets
- Perform general administrative duties for the estimating department
- Ensure city agency qualifications are up to date/not expired
Skills
- Excellent negotiation skills to foster relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and clients
- Knowledge of plumbing methods and materials
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn
- Positive attitude and team-oriented approach
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of plumbing/construction, estimating, or administrative experience preferred
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings is a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and QuickBooks is preferred
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and time-management abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
