Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Bookkeeper & Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will manage core accounting functions, ensure accurate payroll processing, and maintain financial records that support our company's growth and operational excellence. Your expertise will help us uphold our standards of accuracy and compliance while contributing to the smooth financial functioning of our organization.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar systems.
- Process payroll accurately and timely using payroll software; ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Perform account reconciliations including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation to ensure data integrity.
- Maintain detailed records of journal entries, debits & credits, and account analysis for audit readiness.
- Prepare financial reports and assist in budgeting processes by analyzing financial data and providing insights.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) standards for all accounting activities.
- Support month-end closing procedures by preparing necessary documentation and reports.
Experience
- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or payroll specialist with a strong background in corporate or non-profit accounting environments.
- Hands-on experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or similar financial software.
- Demonstrated knowledge of payroll processing procedures and related compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with accounting concepts like double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including GAAP standards and general ledger management.
- Excellent skills in spreadsheets and financial report writing to support accurate data analysis and decision-making.
- Prior experience working with public accounting firms or in environments requiring strict adherence to accounting standards is a plus.
