Slitter Operator - Day or Night Shift Opening - DIRECT HIRE!! (Pay Based on experience)
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Slitter Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will set up, operate, and maintain slitting machines used to cut large coils of metal into specified widths. The ideal candidate has experience with metal processing equipment, understands precision measurements, and is committed to producing high-quality products while maintaining a safe work environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate slitting machines, including knife positioning and tension adjustments.
- Monitor machine performance and make adjustments to ensure accurate, high-quality cuts.
- Inspect materials using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and production specifications.
- Perform routine quality checks throughout production.
- Complete production, quality, and maintenance documentation accurately.
- Conduct daily machine safety inspections and follow all safety procedures.
- Troubleshoot minor machine issues and perform basic preventative maintenance.
- Work with team members and supervisors to maintain production schedules.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Assist with material handling using overhead cranes and forklifts when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience operating slitting machines or similar metal processing equipment required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and production specifications.
- Experience using precision measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Basic shop math skills, including measurements and conversions.
- Forklift and/or overhead crane experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Comfortable working around moving machinery and handling large metal coils.
- Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
