Job Summary
We are seeking a detail‑oriented, drafting‑focused Associate Attorney to support our estate and wealth transfer planning, trust administration and probate practice. This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys structured work, consistent drafting, and steady workflow management, while also seeking mentorship and opportunities to grow professionally.
The attorney in this role will collaborate closely with the firms’ partners, other attorneys and our other estate planning team members to deliver high‑quality, bespoke legal services with accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism. The attorney in this role will also have meaningful client involvement interaction, including, participating in client meetings and communicating and corresponding with clients.
This is a full‑time position with a competitive compensation package, including paid time off, benefits, and eligibility for performance‑based bonuses. Base salary will be commensurate with experience.
Duties
Draft Estate Planning Documents – Prepare wills, revocable trusts, irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, deeds, trust funding documents and other documents relating to the client’s estate plan needs and goals.
Customize Documents – Tailor template‑based documents to client‑specific needs while maintaining consistency and accuracy.
Quality Control Review – Conduct detailed reviews for internal consistency, legal sufficiency, and compliance with applicable law.
Conduct Targeted Legal Research – Research estate planning, trust, probate and tax issues as needed.
Preparation of Gift and Estate Tax Returns – Prepare gift and estate tax returns for client matters.
Draft Correspondence – Prepare client letters, transmittals, and follow‑up communications related to estate planning matters.
Collaborate with Team Members and Clients – Work closely with partners, other attorneys, paralegals and administrative staff, along with clients, to support client matters.
Handle Additional Projects – Complete other tasks assigned to support firm operations
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the Minnesota state bar is required or pending.
- Proven experience or internship in a law office setting with exposure to diverse practice areas such as estate planning or related fields.
- Excellent written communication skills, particularly in drafting wills, trusts, and related estate planning documents.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Ability to translate client goals and fact patterns into appropriate estate planning documents.
- Maintains confidentiality, professionalism, and sound legal judgment in all client matters.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
