Duties
- Assist with patient intake by collecting medical histories, verifying insurance information, and updating electronic health records (EHR systems) accurately.
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration to support clinical assessments.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
- Support providers with clinical tasks including medication administration, wound dressing changes, and basic life support (BLS) procedures.
- Manage medical documentation using ICD coding for diagnoses and procedures to ensure proper billing and record-keeping.
- Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment adhering to infection control standards and safety protocols.
- Provide exceptional patient service by answering questions, scheduling follow-up appointments, and coordinating care across departments such as Behavioral Health.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in specialties like Behavioral Health & Case Management to deliver comprehensive patient care.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to support accurate clinical work.
- Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments including outpatient clinics, hospital medicine, urgent care centers, or specialty clinics.
- Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation and patient record management.
- Ability to perform intake assessments, measure vital signs accurately, and assist with ICD coding for billing purposes.
- Competence in medication administration and basic life support (BLS) certification to respond effectively during emergencies.
- Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach that ensures comfort and trust during every interaction.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail.
