We're seeking a motivated, compassionate, and results-driven Associate Attorney to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney with experience in a Public Defender's Office, District Attorney's Office, or similar high-volume litigation environment who wants to bring their courtroom experience and advocacy skills to a growing private practice.
If you've spent your career managing a demanding caseload, appearing in court, negotiating with opposing counsel and prosecutors, and advocating for clients under pressure, your experience may be an excellent fit for this position.
The ideal attorney for this position:
- Has experience working in a Public Defender's Office, District Attorney's Office, or other high-volume criminal litigation environment.
- Is comfortable managing a significant caseload while maintaining strong attention to detail and client service.
- Has meaningful courtroom and litigation experience and is confident advocating on behalf of clients.
- Demonstrates strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
- Is able to quickly assess a case, identify the most important issues, and develop an effective strategy.
- Excels at communicating complicated legal matters clearly and effectively to clients.
- Demonstrates empathy and genuine concern for clients who may be experiencing one of the most difficult periods of their lives.
- Is proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently while contributing positively to a team.
- Is comfortable handling difficult conversations and advocating firmly for clients while maintaining professionalism.
- Possesses exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
- Maintains a positive, professional, and enthusiastic demeanor that aligns with our firm's values.
- Is interested in building a long-term career with a growing law firm and continuing to develop as an advocate.
Why Your Public Defender or DA Experience Is Valuable Here
The experience you gain in a Public Defender or District Attorney's Office can be an excellent foundation for personal injury practice. You've learned how to manage a large caseload, evaluate evidence, prepare for court, negotiate, think quickly on your feet, and advocate for people in high-pressure situations.We're looking for an attorney who can bring those skills to our personal injury firm while continuing to grow professionally and provide an exceptional experience for every client.
Compensation: Starting salary of $75,000 - $100,000 based on experience for the first 12 months. Commission opportunities are available from the first year, increasing with experience. From the second anniversary onward, compensation transitions to 100% commission. An Attorney in their second year averages 150k and 200 - 250k in their third year.
Requirements: Must currently hold a NC State Bar License. Preferred 5+ years of legal experience.
