Role: Safety Engineer
Client: Defense-Aerospace
Pay Rate: up to $74/hr (W2, non-benefited)
Length: 6-month contract
Location: Tewksbury, MA
Clearance: Active and transferrable final U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required.
Description:
-
Assisting with and implementing one or more MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs
-
Performing MIL-STD-882 System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400).
-
Assisting with analysis of engineering hardware and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance
-
Working with test and tactical operating and maintenance procedures to assure the proper administrative controls are in place
-
Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.

Provide creative solutions to maximize safety functionality without impeding critical performance.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
-
Assist with design of concise, testable safety requirements or providing safety analysis of existing requirements
-
Assist with performing System Safety Program or Design analyses
-
Collaborating with other disciplines during program technical execution,
-
Interfacing with key stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors)
-
Assisting in preparation of Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval
-
Assisting with briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
-
Reviewing Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military
-
standards
-
Assisting in preparation internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
Required Skills & Experience:
-
Experience with Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical or Firmware Engineering.
Desired Skills & Experience:
-
Experience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882 / DO-178
-
Experience with system and software safety implementation in Agile Development environment
-
Experience interfacing with Human Systems Integration showcasing execution of Human Factors Engineering tasking involving MIL-STD-1472.

Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development
-
Familiarity with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, System Safety Working Groups
Required Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 2 years of relevant software engineering experience
