ACCOUNTING MANAGER | JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager provides operational leadership for the organization’s accounting functions, overseeing day-to-day financial operations while supervising and developing accounting staff. This role manages a broad range of responsibilities including general ledger reconciliation, accounts receivable, payroll processing, vendor management, and tenant billing. The Accounting Manager also supports the Controller with reporting, audit preparation, and budget development, while continuously identifying process improvements that strengthens organizational efficiency and fiscal responsibility.
Annual Salary $59,000-$65,000
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
§ Leadership and Team Development
o Provide leadership that fosters a positive culture, team productivity, and operational efficiency
o Identify and recommend process improvements and cost-saving opportunities
o Supervise and develop accounting staff to ensure high performance, teamwork, and effective communication
§ Accounting Operations
o Reconcile General Ledger accounts and security deposit accounts on a timely basis
o Process accounts receivable, journal entries, payroll (and serve as a back to the HR Mgr.), mortgage payments, tax filings, and allowances for doubtful accounts
o Allocate insurance expenses, process intra – and inter-company transfers, and handle utility billing
§ Transaction Processing & Vendor Management
o Post approved invoices, print checks, and set up new vendors in accounting software
o Prepare and process check request and journal entries for payroll-related items (tax deposits, garnishments, HSA contributions, etc.).
o Prepare and deposit incoming checks, enter HAP payments, and communicate discrepancies to
relevant departments
§ Reporting & Special Projects
o Provide weekly A/R and balance sheet reports to the Executive Director
o Support the Controller with special projects such as audit preparation, budget development,
expense tracking, and annual CAM reconciliations

REQUIREMENTS
§ Education
o High school diploma or GED, bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or similar preferred
§ Experience
o 4+ years of successful experience in bookkeeping, A/R, A/P, and executing internal control safeguards
o 2+ years of management in property management, construction or similar
o Monthly reporting, responding to audit requests, multi-departmental and multiple-entity processes
§ Skills
o Knowledge of relevant financial systems, software (including Excel), and organizational systems
o Familiarity with government and/or nonprofit accounting, reporting, auditing, and compliance
o Expertise with database entry and similar software systems
o Strong analytical abilities and attention to compliance
o Effective time and task management skills
o Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
o Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams
o Bilingual, preferred
