An established, high-volume restaurant in Downtown San Diego is seeking an experienced Assistant General Manager to help lead daily operations and support a high-performing hospitality team.

You'll work closely with the General Manager to oversee daily restaurant operations while helping build a culture rooted in accountability, teamwork, and hospitality.
What You'll Do:
Guest Experience
- Lead the restaurant floor during service, ensuring an exceptional guest experience from arrival through departure.
- Respond to guest feedback with professionalism and resolve concerns quickly and effectively.
- Maintain high standards for food quality, beverage service, cleanliness, and hospitality.
- Step into operational roles as needed to support service during busy periods.
Team Leadership
- Coach, develop, and motivate front-of-house and back-of-house team members.
- Assist with recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training.
- Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and accountability.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented workplace culture.
- Help identify and develop future leaders within the organization.
Restaurant Operations
- Oversee daily restaurant operations and ensure all opening, closing, and shift procedures are completed consistently.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and compliance with company standards.
- Monitor food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service practices.
- Assist with scheduling, labor management, and operational planning.
- Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained and operational.
Financial & Inventory Management
- Support inventory management, ordering, receiving, and cost controls.
- Monitor labor, food, and beverage costs while identifying opportunities for increased efficiency.
- Maintain accurate cash handling and point-of-sale procedures.
- Partner with the General Manager to achieve sales, profitability, and operational goals.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who brings:
- 2+ years of restaurant management experience in a high-volume, full-service environment
- Proven leadership experience managing large hospitality teams
- Strong knowledge of front-of-house and back-of-house operations
- Experience with scheduling, inventory, ordering, and cost controls
- Excellent communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with restaurant POS systems (Toast experience is a plus)
- Food Manager/Food Handler certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) certification (or ability to obtain upon hire)
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
Physical Requirements
This position requires standing and walking for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, and working in a fast-paced restaurant environment with varying temperatures, kitchen heat, noise, and other typical hospitality conditions.
