Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, patient condition changes, and reporting findings accurately
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure privacy and safety
- Help with meal preparation and feeding to promote proper nutrition and hydration
- Utilize patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques to ensure safe movement and transfers
- Maintain cleanliness of the living environment through regular cleaning and sanitation practices
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents or clients, fostering a positive atmosphere
- Assist with transportation needs for appointments or outings using personal transportation assistance when required
- Follow all safety protocols including first aid, CPR certification, and emergency procedures to ensure client safety at all times
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and care plans
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, or in senior care settings such as assisted living or nursing homes is highly preferred
- Hands-on experience in patient observation, monitoring vital signs, medication administration, and implementing care plans
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer’s care, memory care, hospice care, and autism support enhances your ability to provide specialized assistance
- Familiarity with manual handling equipment like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods ensures safe mobility support
- Experience working within home health or community care environments demonstrates adaptability across diverse settings
- Certification in first aid and CPR is required; additional certifications in HIPAA compliance or caregiving are advantageous
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, and healthcare teams while maintaining confidentiality
