Job Overview
We are a privately owned optometrist/optical center with multiple locations based in Monmouth County, New Jersey. With over 30 years in the business, we are looking to add someone to our team who can continue to provide the best care possible for our patients. Ideally someone with previous optical sales experience would be a perfect fit to our practice.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assess their optical needs through engaging conversations and active listening.
- Educate patients on different eyewear options, including frames, lenses, coatings, and accessories, ensuring they understand features and benefits.
- Process sales transactions efficiently using retail math skills and insurance benefits.
- Collaborate with optometrists and/or opticians to understand patient prescriptions to give them the best experience while in our office.
Requirements
- Prior optical experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of optical products, ophthalmology concepts, and anatomy related to eye health is highly desirable.
- Experience working with EMR systems such as Office Mate or similar platforms is a plus.
- Strong understanding of physiology, vital signs measurement, medical coding, and medical billing processes adds value.
- Ability to handle sensitive medical records following HIPAA guidelines with professionalism and discretion.
- Excellent communication skills combined with a proactive attitude to assist diverse patient populations including pediatrics and senior care.
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
