Job Title: Senior Business Administrator (Human Resources)
Reports To: Director of Finance and Operations
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, $30.41-$58.46/hour for 215 day school year. Hourly rate dependent upon applicable years of experience.
Customary Work Schedule: 30 hours per week during the 215 day school year.
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Finance and Operations, the Senior Business
Administrator is responsible for human resources, operational, and some financial duties
as described below. The person in this position performs a wide variety of duties requiring
an elevated level of responsibility and critical thinking skills; demonstrates sound decision-
making and good judgment while maintaining strict confidentiality on all matters.

Roles & Responsibilities
- Manages HR responsibilities associated with all stages of the employee life cycle.
- Assists the Director of Finance and Operations with financial and operational
responsibilities.
- Maintains regular communication and advises Head of School in all areas of responsibility.
- Assists in the implementation of school goals and program development activities related to equity in school operations.
Human Resources
- Manage recruitment, hiring and onboarding with a focus on equity and increasing staff diversity (job fairs, advertisement, scheduling of interviews, etc.).
- Maintain HR information system, including adding new employees and substitute personnel and capturing ongoing employee-related changes.
- Partner with external payroll processing team to ensure employee records, earnings and deductions are up to date and timesheets are accurately submitted in order to facilitate semi-monthly payroll process.
- In partnership with the PCS benefits broker, manage Open Enrollment, support and monitor employee elections, and act as liaison with various insurance companies, including medical, dental, worker’s comp, 403b, and liability including preparation of required audit information.
- Manage employee leaves including sick, personal, disability, FMLA, workers compensation and any other federal and state mandated leaves.
- Monitor and file appropriate compliance reports with regulatory agencies (ex: ACA, OSHA/Workers Comp, California Pay Data and EEO-1).
- Track TB test results, CPR certification, and LiveScan clearance.
- Prepare annual rollover of employee information including leave balances, salary and
title changes and various payroll deductions.
- Maintain employee personnel files.
- Basic knowledge of CA labor laws and ability to research effectively.
- Other Human Resources responsibilities, as needed.
Operational & Financial
- Ensure all required employee training is assigned and completed in a timely manner.
- Assist with annual audit and tax returns.
- Create special reports and perform tasks as assigned.
Minimum Requirements and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education experience and training which would
indicate possession of the required knowledge, skills and competencies listed herein.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of human resources experience.
- Word, Excel, and Google Suite literacy and ability to learn new application, as needed
(ex: HR information system, QuickBooks).
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Works independently.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
- Motivated to seek out answers, generate ideas, and develop new skills.

- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Knowledge of school operations (preferred).
- Experience working in charter schools, education, or non-profits (preferred).
