1. Program and operate two OMAX Waterjets.
2. Nest parts to maximize material yield
3. Manage workflow operation with efficiency.
4. Perform Quality Control on part output from machines and troubleshoot technical challenges with the design specifications.
Summary/Duties:
The Waterjet Programmer is a position that incorporates elements of programming, drafting, nesting, and digital modeling with the mechanical operation of the waterjet metal cutting machine for fabricating parts according to our client specifications.
The ideal candidate has a thorough understanding and at least one year experience of how to use the OMAX waterjet cutting machine and supporting equipment. Prior programming experience is essential.
The Operator will use customer specifications to implement programming and drafting designs. This is considered foundational knowledge for the role. After setting up programs the Operator will monitor jobs in progress while planning for upcoming tasks.
This person will also perform any duties normally associated with this position that are not expressly outlined, and any other activities that will contribute to the growth of the organization, and all other duties needed to help drive to our Vision, fulfill our Mission, while abiding by our Company Values. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
- Program jobs in the OMAX system.
- Use CAD software for job modeling.
- Plan for upcoming jobs.
- Ensure that raw materials are being used efficiently.
- Perform quality control on jobs to ensure that the produced outcome meets the required specifications, and take corrective actions when necessary.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Drafting and programming skills are strongly preferred. Other operational and mechanical skills may be enhanced on the job for a candidate strong in programming and drafting.
- Prior experience with CNC, sheet metal, and nesting strongly preferred.
- Interpret customer specifications to render and execute programming and drafting designs for use in the OMAX waterjet machine.
- Operate the machines according to safety, operational, and job specific guidelines.
- Mechanical aptitude that can be applied real time in regular maintenance of the waterjet is necessary.
- Operator must possess time management and workflow planning skills and have the ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Continuously seek ways to efficiently use machine operating time and minimize wasted materials on the job.
- Uphold all ISO and OSHA standards applicable to the responsibilities above.
- Comply with all aspects of company safety protocols.
Education, Experience, Language Skills:
- Drafting and programming CAD/CAM vocational education and experience strongly preferred.
- CNC and nesting experience are ideal, but secondary to drafting and programming skills.
Work Environment:
Machining shop. Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift at least 50 pounds using appropriate lifting techniques.
Reporting Structure:
Machine Operator reports directly to FAM Waterjet Ownership.
Dress Code:
Work pants, steel boots. Personal Protective Equipment should be worn as indicated by FAM Waterjet safety protocols.
Pre-Employment Qualifications:
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
